Self-Care Box for Fibromyalgia

When it comes to self-care, some of the activities people often think about first include bubble baths, face masks, reading, relaxing, walking in the park, or doing a hobby, and those sorts of things. These are all amazing and can lower stress levels, bring more relaxation, and really boost your mental health by bringing a sense of happiness and fulfillment.

Shopping can also be a form of self-care, though it is one you want to be a little more careful doing. It shouldn’t take excessive spending, where you end up more stressed because of how much you spent. Shopping should be saved as a rare form of self-care for those moments when you know it will help you feel better. Purchasing something specific to self-care, like a self-care box, made specifically to help you spend more time practicing self-care is a great option.

I'm not too keen on surprises, so I'd never ventured to buy myself a gift box or self-care box. Recently though, the opportunity to partner with Cratejoy as an affiliate came my way. I decided to treat myself to some goodies, and venture to get a box of surprises, and also check out for myself if the hype I'd seen on social media about self-care boxes was really what it seemed!

I've learned from living with fibromyalgia that I will try almost anything to manage my symptoms and like so many people with fibromyalgia struggle with managing stress and maintaining a good self-care routine. Especially when we are in the pits of a fibromyalgia flare, we struggle to function, let alone pamper ourselves with goodies.

Cratejoy is an online platform where you can find the most amazing selection of subscription boxes. The first box I wanted to try is, Therabox.

Therabox is well known as a popular monthly self-care box subscription. Though you can buy a box as a once-off purchase without any hassle. This is a self-care box with a twist, though it contains mostly skincare and bath products, the boxes are focused on self-care rather than beauty and are made by mental health therapists. This concept intrigued me. I wanted to know more. So I leaped and dived into my first Therabox.

The Therabox box I received was Lunar Box; +$170 value, though purchased for only $34.99. Cratejoy also offers 10% off your first purchase - find it here.

I was very impressed with Therabox's international shipping. I lived outside of the USA, so I expected to get my self-care box a little later than if I purchased it within the USA.

I received my box the same day as packages were delivered to subscribers in America. As I mentioned, I’m not too fond of surprises, so I had been on Instagram looking to see if anyone had posted pictures of their Therabox delivery. I was so surprised that I received an alert from my post office that my parcel was ready & waiting for my collection THE SAME DAY that Therabox customers in the USA were posting on Instagram that their box had arrived! I don’t know if I just got lucky, but I'm impressed.

The next thing that left an impression on me was as I opened up my box, I found that the products provided are all full-sized, not just samples.

I tossed aside the information leaflet provided and dived straight in to check out all my goodies.

Once my excitement calmed down, and I had fought off my two kittens that were eager to jump into the box and play with the packaging, I quickly got a photo of my goodies.

I left the kittens to play with the brown paper confetti and look through through the information leaflet.

Not only did the accompanying leaflet detail the products, the brands, their websites, retail prices, and even discount codes, but it also answers FAQ and includes ways to get freebies and bonuses from Therabox in your next box.

My Therabox Product Review

I decided to wait a few months at least until I sat down to write this review; though I was happy with the process of buying and receiving the box, I wanted to see if the products were worthwhile having. I also wondered if my first impressions of them would stand the test of time.

The list below are the products I received, and they are in order from those I love the most to the least liked product, or something I wouldn’t have bought for myself.

🌙 Rose Gold Hydroglow Cream | Vitamasques

The Rose Gold Hydroglow Cream is my absolute favorite item in this box; it’s super pretty, luxurious, feels fantastic on, and it’s also practical - moisture & a primer. I love that it contains hyaluronic acid - maybe that will help mimics my fine lines. I will use this, I think it’s perfect for highlighting my cheekbones, and it has already taken a spot on my dressing table. I’ll save the 30% off coupon included.

🌙 Firming Toner | Evolue

It was love at first smell; orange. I tried it immediately and have been using it every day since I received this box, and the first thing in the box, I thought, “I’ll use that,” when I saw it. This firming toner delivers on its promise to firm the skin. It also leaves the skin feeling hydrated. It's a quality product from a quality brand and came with a 20% off coupon.

🌙 Flawless Charcoal Face Scrub | Minimo

During this last year, Covid-19 pandemic, I haven’t been able to get out a buy any new products to try, and I’m already a fan of charcoal products, so getting this scrub felt like a gift from a friend that knew it was something I'd appreciate. Again, I'm impressed that it’s a full-sized product, not just a sample.

🌙 Rose Quartz Gua Sha | Chloe Emerald

Though rated as my fourth favorite product, it's my number one favorite luxury product. It's something I’ve wanted to buy for a while but hadn't treated myself to one. Receiving this highlights to me that we shouldn't wait to "treat ourselves." A rose quartz facial massage tool isn't something I needed,, but it brings me joy.

🌙 Australian Sandalwood Natural Incense + Wood Pine Holder Set | The Happy Shoppe

I’ve never been a fan of using incense; like many people with fibromyalgia, I’m sensitive to smells. I've tried this, and actually, I like it and don't find it overpowering. The sandalwood smell is warm and earthy. Its aroma can help with relaxation by balancing emotions, such as anxiety.

🌙 Glitter Peel-off Mask | Joss + Lyn

I love masks, and this glitter mask is charcoal-based. I’ve used charcoal peel-off masks before and like them, so I popped this product straight into my Self-Care Sunday box, where I keep face-masks and other quick and easy to use products that I can easily access when I’m not feeling in the “self-care” mood. I like to pick one thing out to give myself at least a little pampering.

🌙 Stardust Skies Whipped Body Butter | Aminnah Skincare

The second most expensive item in the box is this whipped body butter. It’s super pretty, and the ingredients sound lush, with essential oils, organic shea butter, coconut oil, jojoba oil, and Vitamin E. It's light and luxurious and described by Therabox. I definitely wouldn't pick a sparkly and colorful whipped body butter product out myself, but it's fun to try something new, even if it's not my favorite product in the box.

🌙 Manifesting Challenge Journal |The Happy Shoppe

Lastly, the Journal. It’s cute, and I do like it. I was initially underwhelmed,I thought as I have so many journals already. As time has gone by, I've discovered that it's a lovely little journal. It has prompts for creating intentions, overcoming limiting beliefs, and taking action. Using a journal to set intentions and manifestations is a great way to add more spirituality into self-care.

I'm impressed by this self-care box and can see that actual therapists created it because it’s not just beauty products. Therabox is more holistic in its approach to self-care. Self-care can be enjoying nice face creams, taking time for yourself, journalling your dreams, and learning how to overcome limiting beliefs or making your environment feel warm and calm. I’m already looking forward to next month's box.

As an affiliate of Cratejoy, I invite you to check out Therabox or scroll through and check out the many other boxes they offer.
